Unhappy Installing new Radeon card

I just got a Radeon VE card with 32mb DDR memory, and I've been having trouble getting the drivers to work with my system (Mandrake 9.0). The driver package installs perfectly, but upon trying to run an OpenGL screensaver, it complains:

error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've put symlinks in the /usr/lib and /usr/X11R6/lib directories, but it still doesn't find the needed file. Has this happened to anyone else before?

1) Do you actually have this file?
2) Did you re-run ldconfig? Does it find the file? If not is the path to the file in /etc/ld.so.conf?
