increase hd speed

Hello !

I just have a problem with my hd speed!

It is not even possible to start a movie from /hda hdparm says:

hdparm -t /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 1.73 seconds = 36.99 MB/sec

hdparm -v /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
multcount = 16 (on)
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 8 (on)
geometry = 5005/255/63, sectors = 80418240, start = 0

So i don`t think it`s because the hardware.
Does anybody have an idea ?

The speed indicated by hdparm should me more than enough to play a movie. You could consider use bechmark tools to see if this result is real, using postmark, iozone, or another tool...

You might want to post what player you use for the movie and what error messages you are getting or what the problem is.
