Hi, i will repeat my question ..

server is showing high memory utilization and the work around in place is

sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

but this is temporary solution i am looking for permanent solution by limiting the memory utilization if possible please advise if possible

thanks.

Thanks for the reply pan64 problem is the alert tool use in our environment OVO grabs the disk usage and shows memory used above threshold and that generates alert tickets , i am trying to balance that thing here

OVO is HP tool to monitor hardware/software via modules.

any advise on that ?

So open a ticket against HP - OVO is failing as it can't handle the way Linux uses memory; pretty trivial to fix.
No sense ruining the performance of your system by continually using drop_caches.
