I want to boot from a SATA Hardware Raid5 drive w/ Debian Sarge

I have a Intel S3000AH Motherboard with a Promise SuperTrak Ex8350 8-port SATA PCI-Express RAID controller. I have 4 Seagate SATA drives (ST3250620AS). I have setup a hardware RAID5 drive (by using the Promise controllor's BIOS RAID setup utility) using the 4 physical Seagate SATA drives . Now, I want to install Debian Sarge on this hardware RAID5 drive.

What is the best way to do this?

I would prefer not to use an IDE drive or any other drive as a boot drive, if possible!

I am fairly new to Linux, so verbosity is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Sorry. If it can be done with Sarge, it'll be tricky. Sarge doesn't know about SATA drives. Why aren't you installing Etch? It'll handle it without a blink and it's very close to being released as the new Stable.

Tried Etch

Installed Etch. Tried to install Webmin. Sorry Webmin is not written for Etch yet. Stopped right there. I figured that if Webmin has not be written for Etch, what other problems am I going to run into?

Oh.... Believe ME. NO search engine has been left untouched. So I guess GOD's special gift was sending humble little me to your vast knowlegde.

Webmin has been pulled from the Debian Repos for general bugginess and lack of maintenance. You can get a .deb package from the webmin home page, and install it using "dpkg -i webmin"

They don't care how buggy it is. Debian, on the other hand, has a reputation to maintain ... no buggy software.
