use a livecd of some sort (Gentoo, Knoppix, DamnSmallLinux) and mount your hard drive(s) to see what the problem is. Make sure your kernel has support for your filesystem and also make sure that your /etc/fstab file is reading everything correctly. See, there may be conflictions/differences between any sort of files in your floppy compared to your hard disk. What locations do you have LILO(or similar bootloader) installed?

do u get grub... directly... after the POST???
do u get a bios message...
what i see form your messages is that u get a bios message...isn't it??? if so just check that the power cord and the bus to the hard disk are in a proper state...
if that doesnot serve your purpose and you get a messgae stating that hard disk not bootable.. then get into your linux partition using the floppy and give grub-install <hard disk>
this will resinstall grub...
