I am currently running Ubuntu 8.04. Lenova states that I can upgrade to 512. I install new memory with factory specs and it will not boot. I reinstall the 256 and it works fine. Do I need to do something in BIOS? I am at a loss here.

This is the memory I purchased from GEEKS.com, 2 each 256MB 32x64 RAM PC-100 144-Pin Laptop SODIMM Major/3rd Part Number 32X64NB100-N. Did they send the right ones for a IBM Thinkpad A21m 2628 ?
The specs look ok. Have you tried installing one at a time. Do both work in the first slot?
If both work in the first and not in the second then the 2nd slot might be broken.
Do you have the latest BIOS version?
It may be like an old Dell I had, it had to have a memory with a CL5 I think. Of course the memory it required was about twice as high (price) as the common one. You might check the CL# of the original memory and that of the new.
