Wireless input devices like a keyboard and a mouse creates convenience but are not reliable. I recommend using wired input devices because they are the most reliable to date.

If you still insist of using wireless inputs, try using nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. They have higher current capacity than alkaline batteries and they are recharable. Rechargeable batteries saves you money, time, and the Earth. If that does not work or does not last long enough, you can get some Peel-n-Etch sheets and make a PCB that has spiral wire traces that simulates coils. Modify the mouse's power supply to contain an iron core coil, diodes, and a voltage regulator. Then use a 555 timer chip and a power supply to oscillate voltage to give power to the mouse all the time. The PCB should be placed under the mouse pad.

Your post is not really Linux related.
