I have a PSC 1315 and I am trying to install it with Suse 9.1 personal
My kernel version is 2.6.4-52-default.
Here are the results of /sbin/lsusb :-
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 03f0:3f11 Hewlett-Packard
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Everytime I try to configure via http://localhost:631/printers
It asks me for a password and neither root nor my local user are acceptable passwords
so I can not configure there.
Any help would be much appreciated as I have spent 50 minutes trying to work this out.
I have the PSC 1210 and i had to run "ptal-init setup" in a terminal. it recognized my printer, then i could configure it with localhost:631. then i added ptal-init to /etc/rc.conf (might be different in suse, tho...im on arch) give it a shot
Thanks for that I can now use CUP but the printer does not print !!!
I think I have set it up okay, using the Foomatic/gimp-print driver.
Any ideas anyone ? I have searched but with limited success.

Ciao
Sorry I should have said that I do have both installed (messing around with drivers after a long day at work makes you forget to write things).
I will try the hpjis drivers.
Also when I did ps x I saw that ptal-init is running.
Thanks for all the help, I have to say out of the 3 printers that I have used that work on Linux this is the hardest (I know it works but I have seen reviews that it does) by far to install.
The annoying thing is that I need to install software and my DVD drive is broken and also ...... I can not find a good ftp site or I am doing it wrong.
