How to use settings from one distro in another one?

New to Linux (mandriva 2006) I have been convinced by trying KNOPPIX 3.6. Every piece of HW is recognized and works with it. I installed Mandriva and coudln't set up neither my sound card (Vibra 16c) nor my TV card. Do you think I could get Knoppix settings and use them for Mandrive system? How would you do that? I think it could help many newbees if possible.

hardware settings are found in the directory

/etc/

put a copy of knoppix in your CDrom
boot it
copy the /etc folder to somewhere on your HardDrive (not where Mandriva isntalled it will break it)

P.S i found my TV card worked Pretty easy in Mandriva

Code:
KDE Menu> System> Configuration> Configure my Computer
Hardware Tab > TV Card.
chose your card maker and Tuner model.

PP.S it is apparently Possible to put Knoppix on you Harddrive

Sound card isnt working because ISA uses the very old OSS soundsystem

Mandriva Uses ALSA by default so someelse might know how to fix that.

Code:
KDE Menu> System> Configuration> Configure my Computer

Software Tab > Install Software
search for OSS
it might help
