Hi,
I have been having lots of worries with a new computer from Dell with a promise SATA 150 RAID controller (for a single HD). Essentially, the HD is not recognized by the kernel (I have tried SuSE9 and Debian 3.0 1a).
I have read through all the posts on this topic in LinuxQuestions, but it seems there __might__ be an easier way...
For SuSE9 (Kernel 2.4.21), there is an option to load IDE/RAID/SCSI modules, and there is a module, pdc-ultra, for Promise SATA150 series Driver. However, when I try to load this, the installation routine asks for parameters. If I leave this empty or put in the addresses I see during early booting, I get an error message "Failed to load module 'pdc-ultra'.
If I try to load a module from Promise's website, it says, "no new module found" (I guess because the module is already there??).
So, my question: What parameters do I have to enter to get this module loaded??
ThaNKS
