I connected my main monitor with HDMI cable to DIV-to-HDMI adapter on the back of my computher. For the second monitor, I connected it with HDMI cable from the back of the monitor to HDMI port of the computer. Both monitors got black screen except when I was in BIOS. How can I fix this?
Get one monitor working first. Pore over /var/log/Xorg.0.log for problems. This command often finds the nub of the matter.
grep -C5 EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log |less
Hi business kid. Thank you for your respond. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to look for problems in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and grep -C5 EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log |less. I'm not an expert linux user, so please guide me through this.
business kid, thank you for trying. I actually got both monitors to work. I had to uninstall fglrx-14.501.1003 driver and reboot the computer. That's when two monitors work. It seems to me my two monitors only work by using X.OrgXserver-AMD/ATI open source. But I didn't have AMD control center to set for a primary display and a secondary display. So I went to Additional Drivers and selected AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx-updates proprietary and reboot. I now do have AMD catalyst control center to manage the displays. It's just weird to me both monitors don't work with fglrx-14.501.1003 driver. Perhaps, I didn't know how to install it correctly. lol Thank you for trying to help though, business kid.
