Question How to configure sound driver to use new kernel

hiya.... i got a cmi9739 sound card which has got a via8235 chip... but the current drivers from the http://www.cmedia.com.tw/driver/Linu...dio-041.tar.gz(37KB) website only supports kernel 2.4.22... and doesnt work under kernel 2.4.23... is there any way in which i could reconfigure the drivers that work under kernel 2.4.22 to work under kernel 2.4.23

I believe there's a kernel configuration option called "Kernel module versioning" or something like that. This basically allows you to load modules that are compiled for a different kernel version.

wow... problemo sorted out... got it to work under 2.4.24... what i did was to replace /usr/include/linux (which had the headers to be used for 2.4.22) with /usr/src/kernel-2.4.24/includes/linux and did the same for the asm-i386 folder and changed line 13 in the Makefile from 2.4 to 2.4.24 and compiled and installed did a restart and woohooo sounds fine...
