how does one enter the Compaq Proliant 2500 Bios?

Hello

This isn't a linux question (although linux is running on the system).

Does anyone know how to enter the compaq proliant 2500 bios? I have tried F10, but with no luck.

I have a second processor to isntall in it, but i need to set the stepping of the CPUs in the bios.

Any help here?

Try 'del' f1-12 and maybe even 'tab' Computers these days, no standards!

hello hamish,

sorry for my bad english :-) therefor i will make it short :-)
F10 is to enter SCU -> System Configuration Utility -> it is a partition on your harddrive normally...
if you have done an assited install from smartstart up to 5.50
but you may do not have that partition ... and therefor you can not enter it by pressing F10

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/fi.../us/index.html

choose your Proliant ... than Win NT 4.0 just for now
-> locate software
goto -> Software - System Management
look for

Compaq System Configuration Utility download it make a disk
boot from it

Fixes

Updated to prevent a problem with IRC resetting to invalid setting on servers that do not support Standby Recover.

Enhancements

Added support for Novell NetWare 6.0.

Added support for new Compaq servers.

Installation

Obtain four (4) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.

Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number.
3 From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. The following files will be created:

qrst5.exe
174496xx._01
174496xx._02
174496xx._03
174496xx._04
readme.1st

Where "xx" is US (English),SP (Spanish),IT (Italian), FR (French),GR (German), or JP (Japanese).

Run qrst5.exe to create the diskettes.

After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the SoftPaq previously downloaded file and all files generated.

To run the Compaq System Configuration Utility, power down your computer, place the Compaq System Configuration Utility diskette 1 in Drive A:, and power up your computer.
greetings

Tony
