How do i locate the firewire drive i just plugged into my laptop?

i am running Fedora Core 1 on my laptop and am trying to save my wife's data off her dying Maxtor external hard drive (that lives on her iMac running OS X10.2).

i have not been able to figure out how to recognize what the dev is called so i can try mounting it.

all help appreciated

Check the command "dmesg" If the firewire modules got loaded the drive was emulated to scsi and should be recognized as /dev/sda, there'll be a big fat scsi device scan in dmesg that should make it obvious.

You will need to create a mount point for the drive and then mount it as well.

i.e.

mkdir "/mnt/iMac"

mount /dev/sda /mnt/iMac

When you are finished, type: umount /dev/sda

Shouldn't have to specify the fs type.
