Talking how can i install a HP laserJet printer?


hello!

I have a question on how to install an HP laserjet 4250n printer on debian etch?

the printer has its own IP address and the installer is designed for windows users.

purpose: i plan to install an HP printer on etch and share it.
for windows users.

any help is greatly appreciated..^^

Presumably, Debian has a printer manager. I sometimes prefer to use the cups browser-based tool---just open a browser and enter "localhost:631".

You will need to have CUPS installed + I think the hplip package.

I have downloaded HPLIP on HP site..
and about CUPS??? is it the one that comes with samba package?(on samba site?)

CUPS is the Linux printing system--it maybe is already installed--if not it gets installed using your package manager.

(CUPS has little to do with Samba)

PS: HPLIP should also be available with the package manager--that would be the better way to install it.
