Try disabling plug and play in your BIOS and see if the modem shows up...

Is your modem built into your board or separate?

Try looking through some of the results on this page to see if one of these helps or leads to an answer. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...rs&btnG=Search

if you can post the results of lspci here that would help (that's LSPCI, not ISPCI). Also, lsmod? Interested mostly in what model # your modem is and whether its module has been loaded (if its supported).

I just got my internal modem working under Mn 9.2. Scanmodem requires you to uncompress it to a folder such as /home/X/Scanmodem, and then in a term window log in as root, and run it(instructions in README, or INSTALL).

That should identify you're modem. Make sure you have the proper kernel source installed prior to compiling the drivers, once you obtain them.

Good luck!

I have the same model, it's a winmodem
Look at this...
http://www.modemsite.com/56k/bcm.asp
and try this driver
http://support.ap.dell.com/ap/en/fil...?fileid=R47114

I'm going to try, just downloaded the file

lspci will tell you the devices on your machine. if its not detected, it won't be on the list.

lsmod tells what modules (in Windows terms, drivers) have been loaded by your OS during the bootup.

If you post these two things, perhaps you'll get the right answer. The 2.6 kernel, which is in Mandrake 10 may already have your modem driver in it, but the detection may just need a little push. I'd love to help with that push, but I can't see on your machine. An external driver may be needed anyways, but is it for the 2.4 kernel? Or 2.6? I wait.
