Question HDD, which one?

Hi,
I want to buy a new Hard Drive, but I don't know which one.
I'm lost with all those abreviations (ATA, SATA, IDE, EIDE, SCSI...).
How can I check on Linux what system supports?

Thanks

What does you motherboard support is the first question. The if the chipset that controls your hard drive is support, the hard drive you connect to it will work.

I would go for the biggest and fastest you can afford.

For a review on hardware you could look at this site:

Then how do I know the answer to this first question?

Let's see... My receipt says Fujitsu D1675.
According to this document (http://vilpublic.fujitsu-siemens.com...s/ds_d1675.pdf), it seems.. yes ATA!
Well thanks anyway then!

ATA is an IDE(EIDE) drive.
