HCF - Debian

I have an HCF ( or HSF - this isn't the real problem - i will discover later what kind of modem it is ) and i have troubles trying to get it work. - the id for my modem is applied to both types.

Debian 3.0.

I downloaded the source archives ( hcf + riptide ).
It's installed but when i try to configure it, it says:

****
Trying to automatically re-compile the modules..
(this requires a C compiler and proper kernel sources to be installed)

Where is the linux source build directory that matches your running kernel?
[/usr/src/linux]

WARNING: missing file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/autoconf.h
The cause of this problem is usually a missing or misconfigured
kernel source tree (and sometimes an incorrect directory or symbolic link).
****

So what is the linux source build directory that matches my running kernel?
[/usr/src/linux]

this directory doesn't exist.

Thanx in advance.
