Unhappy Harddisk errors

Hi people,

Can anyone tell me what these errors mean or where to look up these error codes:

hda: multwrite_intr: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}

and

hda: multwrite_intr: status=0x04 {DriveStatusError}

I get these errors a lot while the system (as far as I can tell) is running okay. After a while I get messages like DMA disabled or Reset.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction. It's a mailserver that is going to replace a Windows mailserver, but first I want to do something about these errors before I migrate.

Cheers,

Gahan

Sounds like some hinkiness with DMA in the IDE controller, what's the chipset, kernel, and what's the output of:

hdparm -i /dev/hda

Cheers,

Finegan
