Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Hard disk problem on Suse9.1

Hi,
I have two Samsung Hard disks on my system. On one hard disk i maintain Windows XP while on the other i have Fedora Core2 and Suse9.1
The weird thing is that Suse9.1 detects the other hard disk easily but whenever i try fdisk to look at the partition table and mount the partitions on the other hard disk , or try to configure the other hard disk, the system gets hanged. And then it stops detecting the other hard disk.
While Fedora Core2 works fine and i have mounted all the partitions easily.

Can somebody tell me the reason for this strange behaviour?

Welcome to LQ cryptanalyst. Can you post the exact error messages that you're getting? -- J.W.

The system gets hanged

well,
that is the problem. I do not get any error messages,
the only weird thing that happens is that the system gets hanged. Nuthing else. I thought it could have been some hardware problem but then i am able to mount my windows partitions in Fedora Core1 and I am also able to explore my linux partitions in Windows XP using explore2fs.
When i boot up in Suse , and goto hardware controller, it shows the other hard disk and says that it is not configured. When i try to configure it or try commands like fdisk -l , the system gets hanged.
I even installed Suse again, but the problem persists.

Suggestions please!!!
