Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Talking handheld that works with Ubuntu

I would like to know if there is a Handheld like palm pilot what works with Ubuntu.
I don't care if this is from Palm them selves or if this is from another company.

I'm looking for a device that can sync with Ubuntu and Evolution. I'm looking to sync ......

Address Book
Calendar Book
Note Book

This is a nice to have .....

Email
Files
Internet.

Could anyone name a brand of hardware that will do this and work with Ubuntu 7.10 / 8.04

I just got the Palm Z22 a couple of weeks ago. It works great. I had to play around a bit trying different things but now it synchronizes smoothly with Evolution.

I am running Kubuntu 8.04. I use Kpilot to sychronize the Palm Z22. You can get KDE applications to run under the default Gnome environment of Ubuntu. I could not get the Evolution built in Palm synchronizer to work. Instead I had to configure Kpilot to use the Evolution files. It's easy.

The Evolution calendar is stored in ~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics
The Evolution memos are stored in ~/.evolution/memos/local/system/journal.ics
etc.

Kpilot automatically starts when I plug the Palm into a USB connector. By start I mean that a Kpilot icon appears on my desktop. Then I click on the Kpilot icon to get it to start its synchronizing routine. Then I click on the synchronize button the the Palm.

Kpilot had to be configured to use /dev/ttyUSB0. Originally I had to switch between /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1. Now I don't have to change it. The Palm just works.

The Palm Z22 is a very basic machine. It doesn't have bells and whistles that you may want. I have to believe that getting any other Palm device using the Palm operating system would work as easily.
