gf4 twin view (crt goes blank)

hello, i'm running rh9 with a geforce ti 4400. i installed the new nvidia drivers today and it works really fine.

now i want to get my 19'' crt and my tv running in twin mode.
i read the twin view and tv-out sections of the nvidia readme file and adjusted the XF86Config as below.

i reboot and the boot process shows as usual on the crt.
as the xserver starts the crt goes standby like it gets no signal and the tv shows me the top left quarter of my gui.
i played around with the metamodes and twinvieworientation but still the crt stays on standby.

heres the relevant stuff from XF86Config:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
ModelName "Monitor not tested"
HorizSync 30.0 - 130.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 200.0
Option "dpms"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 4 (generic)"
VideoRam 131072
Option "TwinView" "true"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "60"
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,800x600; 1024x768,800x600; 800x600, 800x600; 640x480, 640x480"
Option "TVStandard" "PAL-B"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"
Option "TVOutFormat" "COMPOSITE"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection

thank you for any help,
mart

ok i solved the first problem. i removed the line:
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV" from XF86Config
and i have output on crt and tv.

but still the tv is only showing the top left part of the desktop.
looks like it displays 800x600 pixels from the top left of the 1280x1024 desktop.

is it even possible to run twin view with different resolutions while still displaying the full desktop on both devices?

twin view only allows for both displays to be the same resolution
