I've read the other posts and printed them and tried them and cant get anywhere. I dont know a SINGLE thing about linux but want to learn. I need to get into linux first though Can someone please tell me EXACUALLY what I need to do to get my nvidia driver loaded. Like a step 1 then step 2, etc. I have Redhat9 that I just installed yesterday. Thanks for any help!! If you need to know anything else just let me know.

Step 1.

Go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-4496.html

Step 2.

Follow the instructions!

Basically, download the file from the web page.
If X starts automatically, press CTRL+ALT+F1 to switch to a console.
Log in as root
Close X down with the command init 3 (this switches the machine to run level 3. ie. command line mode)
run the file you just downloaded as per instructions on the web site.
Follow the prompts. You shouldn't have any problems with a standard distribution.
type init 5 to restart X
Done (hopefully)

When you press CTRL+ALT+F1 you'll be dropped at a command prompt style thing. Unlike DOS, you first need to log in as a user.
The root user is the administrator of your machine.

Enter the username root at the prompt, then press return and enter the password that you set up during installation.

You'll then be logged in as root and have full control over the programs and files.

Darren.

You just boot up into Redhat 9 as normal and follow the instructions.
