have recently acquired some networking hardware with console RJ45 ports, and am learning about the serial console. i've followed this guide
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...serial_console to enable serial console access to some Arch Linux PCs. aside from it being outstandingly slow to print output, i've found that full screen programs, such as top, vim, nano, etc. can't seem to use the full screen of whatever terminal emulator i'm using (i've tried picocom on Linux and putty on Windows, and this happens with both.) The program takes up only a small rectangle at the top left of the terminal, measuring about ~80 characters across and ~25 lines up/down.
Is there any way to have them expand out to the size of the emulator? I can maximize putty on my 2560x1920 Win7 machine, and regular command line output from "ls" or "cat" will fill the whole monitor, but fullscreen programs are goofily squashed up into the corner...
