filesystems in /proc/mounts are ro

My IBM eServer BladeCenter HS21 is coming up with the following message
EXT3-fs error (device dm-6) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted. On further investigation I found that the filesystem is read only and the output from fdisk -l is Bus error.

Please can you help. Will reboot fix the problem. (newbie to linux) Thanks

edit /etc/fstab
look for proc in the list
Mine looks like this:
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

if it is read only it would say something like this:
proc /proc proc ro,defaults 0 0
