Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Fedora 15 + Rosewill RC-212

I recently bought a Rosewill RC-212 SATA controller and configured my BIOS and the controller's BIOS to do RAID0 with two hard drives in my machine.

Windows 7 detects and uses the RAID with no questions and I successfully installed it on the RAID array.

I installed Fedora 15 on a different hard drive I have in the machine (non-RAID) but it
refuses to recognize the array and instead sees the hard drives individually.

I'd like to mount the RAID array and use the Windows files from Fedora but it's not possible because it doesn't detect it.

VIA (who makes the chipset) has no drivers for Linux and Rosewill was no help either.

Has anyone has experience with Linux and this particular controller? Or can point me in the right direction?

When you buy hardware, it's always a good idea to check compatibility with the operating system you're using. I suggest going to Newegg and looking up the specific hardware you're interested in, even if you don't purchase from them. Typically the manufacturer or someone in the comments will indicate the level of compatibility. In the case of this hardware, Linux will not work with the onboard RAID. Your only option with this controller is software RAID.

Information regarding Linux support was mixed on Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo).

Actually, it's quite clear. The card works in Linux, but not as a RAID controller. Since that function was important to you you, that should be what you looked for.
