FC3 Inspiron 8500 PCMCIA not loading

I have an external PCMCIA wireless card (Linksys WPC54G). My PCMCIA slot will not become active for me to use the device. I have tried to reload the yenta_socket module and restart the service. The card works great in Windows, but I really need to be able to use it in Linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
