i have a weired problem with my external modem. i run many diffrent disstros. never had a problem till lately. i can connect to the internet but get no bytes in or out but if i use a live cd i can get it to work fine but if i go back and try from the hard drive no go.i have tryed 2 diffrent external modems with the same effect does any one have a clue were i should start to look to solve this problem or has this happened to someone before.
pl. specify which distro which software u r using
also whe u r connected in u r connected to the internet
run"ifconfig"
and see if u get a public ip adress
yes i am getting a public addy the modem works with suse9.1 and linspire but will not work with fedora core2 or knoppix3.3 but does work with the knoppix 3.3 live cd
