ext3 - recover hard disk


I have to recover my hard disk.

For some extrange reason, the filesystem, is all corrupt, and i have to recover my data back.

the filesystem is in ext3 format.

what can I do.

I have ubuntu 9.04 installed, and i cannot get the PC to work, because, y cannot even get a prompt to use fdisk or similar.

any sug ????? HOW CAN I RECOVER MY EXT3 FILESYSTEM FROM A HARDDISK ????

boot from a live CD, fsck the hard drive, hope

Hi,

Not enough information to form a good reply. So you've shown us your need! What's your deed?

We will aid you when you help yourself to a solution. Provide us with what you have attempted and then maybe someone will be able to assist.

'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' would be one link you should look at to help us to help you in the future.

You could always use a LiveCD/DVD or Install CD/DVD to boot to single user mode then perform a 'fsck' on the filesystem(s). Again, what have you attempted? Error mesages or information? Crystal ball is broke!
