Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Just installed Fedora Core 5 and can't find my ethernet connection, When it boots up I see
that eth0 failed to load, How do I connect to the internet? Just starting out. Thanks

I see you have Suse 9.3 listed as your distro. Did the Ethernet connection work Ok with Suse?

What does "ifconfig" display?

Does the machine have more than 1 Ethernet controller? In a machine that has an embedded controller on the motherboard and a PCI Ethernet controller. I've seen Fedora use the embedded controller as eth0 and the PCI controller as eth1. Suse did exactly the opposite. Why it does it that way I don't know.

Hope that helps some.

You didn't provide enough info for us to help you. What OS? What Ethernet controller? What multimedia controller?
