SoundMAX drivers for Windows has something called "environmental effects"..
that is, the sound reverbs and stuff as if you were on those places (stadium, room, etc). It works on 2, 4 or 5.1 speakers; I'd like to use it on 4 speakers (front, rear).. this effect on 4 channels is similar to Dolby Surround.. you can listen an mp3 or anything being stereo or mono, but you'll hear the difference on the rear and front speakers and all around you.. it simply sounds as if being on those places.. Well SBLive has the same thing and its called EAX.
Those effects are enabled or disabled for any application (once enabled its global) from the sound config app, ej Creative Mixer on windows...
(I hope I explain myself ^^; )
I've a SoundMAX onboard chipset (VIA VT8235, AD1980 on ASUS A7V8X-X), 2 pairs of speakers and Debian.
So the question is.. there is some way to use those effects on linux?
there is some way to, apart from replicating a stereo sound from front to rear on alsa, to create a "true" surround effect from a predefined preset (like stadium, etc)?
Any help or thought will be appreciated
