Encore Router Firewall Blocks P2P

Running FC3; Encore wireless router works flawlessly on Comcast connection right out of the box. Plugged it in, and it worked immediately on both Linux and WindowsXP.

My problem is that the firewall works too well. I want to use a P2P program, and no download requests get past the router. I'm a complete newbie to networking and wireless, and weak on firewalls in general.

Would appreciate it if someone could give an overview of the best way to allow desired connections thru without disabling the firewall altogether.
