dual monitors, dual video cards, 1 X, 1 text

Hi
I'm tring to get a second monitor (9" ibm monochrome) working to run top and for email notifications and such so I don't need it to run X. My primary monitor is on a Radeon 9550 in the AGP slot and I have the monochrome monitor on a Radeon 7000 in a PCI slot. If I set the primary monitor to PCI in my BIOS, the monochrome monitor works fine but my AGP monitor is dead and I can't start X (I fiddled with xorg.config but I really don't need it to run X). When it is set to AGP the monochrome monitor is dead. Is there a kernel patch to run a terminal on 2 video cards or can I edit lilo to do this? Any help would be much apperciated.
