Dual Core CPU's - What Kernel

I have heard from a lot of people that the new Intel Centrino Dual Core CPU's are very nice and efficient on the laptops but of course they all rate this on an XP machine. I was wondering if this is the same case with Linux. I would only run Linux on my laptop and was wondering if I will see a huge benefit using the dual core Centiro's & if so, what Kernel is recommended?

I would recommend a fairly new kernel, the 2.6.16 series might be a good place to start. Lots of patches are going into that tree. Plus, the newer kernel you have SMP will be more stable. Cheers!
