http://skrypuch.com/raid/ this page from january 2013 says theres 3 types of raid : software | fake | hardware

is ICH*R INTEL Matrix RAID considered FAKE RAID by the linux community?
is AMD's SB7xx chipsets considered FAKE RAID by the linux community?

im not a linux guy, i know mac stuff... im trying to help a family friend replace a dell poweredge 1900 server that is taking up too much electricity per month.. i cant speak the terminology of linux.i have no idea what acronyms hes referrign to (MD?)
people who post in this fashion do no favors to others who arent as close to all the details...
its funny they cant answer the question simply either.

i would appreciate someone who can respond in a way that i can understand!!!

i keep reading conflicting answers

im not even sure if intel matrix raid or amd SB7xx chipset is "Fake" raid.....
some posts say that it should just work without a driver well i cant easily check now because i have an existing raid on the machine that i would first have to dissassemble

The raid supported in the sb710 is 0,1, or 10. What raid are you requiring?
