Do we need partition table for RAW device

Hi there

I haven't thought of this earlier

But Do RAW devices require a partiton table on a HDD.??

Like I do not want to create any more partition instead use the whole hdd as a RAW device.

My Hdd presently has no partititon table defined

so do we require any parititon table for the hdd to be used as RAW device.

regards

Yep. You have to include a partition.

Writing on a raw device is like writing on piece of paper at different angles with the same color of ink. Partitioning sets the boundries while formating sets up rows of lines, so reading the data can be efficient as possible.
