its really not that melodramatic of a problem but,
I'm using a Canon Powershot a300 with debian testing, gphoto2 and gtkam.
so far the rest of the web says everybody doesn't have any problems with this setup. (well aside from the fact that no one mentions their distro-of-choice)
I do know /dev does completely recognize the camera as existing, but none of
the autodetect features of gphoto2 even detect a camera.
my camera doesn't seem to have a way to activate a ptp mode, the manual suggests all it need to do to be on "computer" mode is just plug into a computer.
has anyone had luck/bad luck with these cameras or know of a way to manually add the camera to gphoto?
well, I tried the one thing I should have tried first: running it all as root, and it worked perfectly, leading me to suspect debian testing (2.6 kernel) has some permissions issues with the usb devices. Anybody run into this or know a way out of it?
