Dell Wireless Multimedia USB Keyboard not totally functional in Ubuntu 9.1

Hi there. My Dell wireless multi-media USB keyboard is not fully functional with my Ubuntu 9.1 box in a Dell 5150C desktop. It used to be. Get this, prior to loggin in to my Ubuntu box, the keyboard is fully functionable such that if Num lock is on, the numbered keys are activated to provide input. After logging in, the numbered keys become unfunctionable, and I'm talking the numbered keys right of the arrowed keys on the kybrd. The Ubuntu keyboard selection is for my Dell multi-media keyboard. Please, any suggestions, or fixes.

Sincerely,

Vince

Turn number lock on after booting in. Unless you tried that as I would assume you would :P Might be something in the Xorg.conf file may wanna check that and post here the section that deals with keyboard.

[SOLVED] Answer to getting full use of Dell Wireless Multimedia USB Keyboard in Ubunt

Thanks for your input. I appreciate that. I did check your suggestion though, but it did not apply in this case as the setting was made after booting in. The answer is in 'Keyboard Preferences', under the 'Mouse Keys" tab where you need to have this unchecked to get the numbered keypad to work in stead of having it do for pointer control. Once this was done, full operational control of the keyboard was made such that I can now use the numbered keys quickly in the small area provided.
