Hey all
I was just adding some ram to one of my Slackware boxes, and I found myself facing the following choice:
I have three DDR DIMMs that are each 512 MB. Two of them are identical DIMMs manufactured Corsair, and the third is manufactured by Kingston. I can only use two of the three. Speeds, etc. being equal, will the twin pair result in better performance?
My initial thought was that it shouldn't matter one way or the other, but now for some reason I have this nagging feeling that the identical pair will perform better... I just can't substantiate it with any reason! Perhaps I'm remembering some remark about "matched" DIMMs, but that just refers to size doesn't it?
Anyhow, I thought it was an interesting question. Anyone have any thoughts or insight?
