Lightbulb D-Link Wireless Card Problem

Hi, My name is Doug. My friend is helping me try to evolve to Linux. He advised me to join this forum and to get to know the Linux community. I have an Alienware Area 51-m notebook that I purchased a little over a year ago. I am currently running the Fedora Core 3 version of Linux. I have just started working with Linux and would appreciate any support I can get. Thank you for listening.

Doug

P.S. My first problem is with connecting to the Internet using a wireless Internet card. I have D-Link DWL-G650 that is not being recognized out of the box from what I can tell. My card is connected through my PCMCIA/PC Slot or also called a Cardbus Type 2 Slot. Any links or how to's on this first task in my journey through Linux would be greatly appreciated.

I do believe NDIS wrapper will solve your trouble! Nice laptop, by the way. I have a similar model!

Thanks for the NDIS wrapper tip. I will look into it. Since you have a similar model computer, I would really appreciate your help if I get stumped again. From the way my friend talks, I am going to get stumped a lot. Thanks again for the tip, and I'll hopefully hear from you in the future.

works

Thanks for the idea of going with a ndiswrapper. My friend did most of the programming to get it to work, but now it does and that's great. Thanks for the tip.
