I have been having trouble with Mozilla Firefox for some time now in the fact that the browser will not connect to the Internet.
If I connect with Konqueror I can open the page with Firefox but not from scratch - in fact the indicator lights do not blink at all.
I have tried unsuccessfully accessing from a Terminal in 'root' and 'user'.
I connect straight to the Internet i.e. no proxy, so my settings are OK there.
It was suggested that my D-Link DSL 504T router needed reprogramming to allow Firefox to access the Internet but as my WinME machine goes on the net with the same browser/router combination I cannot see this.
If this is indeed the solution how would I go about this?
If your windows me box can get out with firefox but your unix box cannot get out with firefox then there is probably an issue with firefox on the unix box.
Check for any wierd settings in firefox. If you cannot find any wierd settings in the browser. Then reinstall the browser or maybe even try upgrading it. If you are not using the 1.5 browser.
Thanks for all the suggestions, Linux is great but the learning curve is bloody near vertical!!
I don't know where I'd be without the LinuxQuestions Forums.
Sorry to be late in replying, but been over the Channel for a couple of days due to a wine/chocolate shortage.
I was rather surprised about the IPv6 bit (not a pun) as I was under the perhaps(misguided) impression that the 128 bit encryption was not yet standard, so was rather puzzled why Mozilla needed it activated.
