creative external usb soundcard fedora core 4


ok, im using fedora core 4 on a laptop and i have a creavive soundblaster 2 external usb soundcard. fc4 recognizes it and sees the module sound-usb-audio, but i when i try to use it, it just defaults to my laptop speakers. any ideas?

There is a HOWTO here - specific to Gentoo but might be useful:

The line 'alias snd-card-0 snd-usb-audio' in the config file looks especially relevant.

Some other things to try: (a) disable your onboard sound device in the BIOS? (b) rmmod the driver for the onboard sound (or don't load it in the first place).

Disclaimer: I haven't used USB sound myself.
