CPU Temp

What is the op temp of a CPU?
Been having probs with Suse 10.3, freezing and so on. Reading through the threads, it seems it could be so simple as the CPU overheating, which causes a freeze! Somewhat of a paradox, hot ice, but never mind.
Using my laptop, Acer Aspire 3000 with an AMD Sempron, at 800 MHz. Just watching the temp to see what happens, I'm at 52ºC now. System hasn't crashed yet, but then I've taken the back off of the laptop, just to see if the fan was clogged. Can't even see the fan!
Any guesses out there?

My Aspire 3000 with a Sempron has seen 85ºC when running at 1800mhz, I think you are fine. It gets ridiculously hot on that "hump" on the bottom, my memory cover has actually warped from heat, hasn't crashed once from heat. The early 3000 and 5000 Aspires aren't known for running cool, but they are well within spec of the what is safe.
