Compaq 1830 IntelliMouse Fails

Running Fedora 7 on Compaq 1830 Presario Laptop
TouchPad works and IntelliMouse 1.1A PS/2 Compatible
has no effect in X11. Running GNOME 2.18

After I launch startX I can hear the HD click when the mouse buttons are pressed and when the mouse is moved. The TouchPad and buttons allow cursor control but the mouse offers no control.

Under Windows both the mouse and Touchpad work concurrently.

Protocols IMPS/2, Auto, IMPS/2 all seem to fail!

Does anyone have a Compaq Presario 1830 running an XServer and if so what is in you xorg.conf file ?

BR

I have a USB mouse and touchpad and they work together. Here is the relevant section from my xorg.conf:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse2"
Driver "evdev"
Option "product" "0x00e1"
Option "vendor" "0x045e"
Option "HWheelRelativeAxisButtons" "7 6"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "SynapticsMouse1"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
EndSection

If editing the Xorg config file does not work, try using a USB to PS2 adapter, that is if your laptop has one. Computers nowadays have too little in functionality. Hope this helps.
