cmpci: dma timed out??

hiya,

this is not really a "problem" per se, but i have the message "cmpci: dma timed out??" at the end of dmesg. i know cmpci is a sound driver and is the right one for my card (CMI8738), but why does it say this? my sound works fine everthing is cool, it's just that message. is it normal? :S

thanks,
-sean

I have that card, same problem too, the driver doesn't work well at all with KDE's aRts mixer. Once I turned that beast off, everything went back to normal, no more 30 second delays in getting it to start playing mp3s... etc... I still get it occasionally when a lot of system sounds are piled on top of one another waiting to access the card, doesn't mean anything really, and it works fine if you switch to alsa, although I can't figure out how to get multiple-speaker support under alsa... but its been a year or so since I bothered with it.

Cheers,

Finegan
