Unhappy CMI8330 configuring problems

isapnp: Scanning for PnP cards...
isapnp: CMI8330 quirk - fixing interrupts and dma
isapnp: Card 'CMI8330. Audio Adapter'
isapnp: Card 'PnP Sound Chip'
isapnp: 2 Plug & Play cards detected total

ad1848/cs4248 codec driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996
ad1848: CMI 8330 SoundPRO detected
ad1848: ISAPnP reports 'CMI 8330 SoundPRO' at i/o 0x530, irq 5, dma 1, -1

isapnp commonly bungs up IRQ assignments and dma channels and such. hand rip out the module with:

rmmod ad1848

And then try loading it with different options, unfortunately there are a lot of them...

Usually these do it:

modprobe ad1848 io=0x530 irq=7 dma=0 dma2=3

The i/o address and irq are usually the culprits...

ISA voodoo is never fun.

Lightbulb

I've actually posted a wrong code. To load the CMI8330 sound card I use the Sound Blaster driver (sb).
And this is the error message:

Soundblaster audio driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996
sb: CMI8330. Audio Adapter detected
sb: ISAPnP reports 'CMI8330. Audio Adapter' at i/o 0x220, irq 10, dma 3, 5
SB 4.13 detected OK (220)
sb: PnP Sound Chip detected
sb: ALS110 sb config failed (out of resources?)[-2]
sb: Failed to initialize PnP Sound Chip
sb: 1 Soundblaster PnP card(s) found.

I wanted to Know what sb: ALS110 sb config failed (out of resources?)[-2] means and what I can do to fix the problem.

Bye I many thanks !!!!

Oh...

Same kind of juggle, different list of options:

/sbin/modprobe sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=3 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x300

Typically does it, first to try if it doesn't load right (and it may load right and just not play sound), is to fiddle with the IRQ, then the io options, but I've always gotten mine to work by juggling the IRQ.

Cheers,
