Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

chipset comparison

Hi all,

I recently came across the following intel site which does the comparison of Chipsets

http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showcha...&culture=en-US

in this site it is written as Mainstream PC, Performance PC etc...

now my question is what is the difference between Mainstream PC & Performance PC ???

To be perfectly honest, in a real world situation probably nothing, according to those specs you linked to..

The most significant difference I see is the memory speed potential with the performance model. Maybe it has a different memory controller/northbridge in more ways than just the GMA950 video device, which is reported to be moderately better than the X3000, though neither is earth-shattering.

If you were to have to choose one, I personally would disregard the 'performance/mainstream' designation and go with whichever one suited me. NOTE that the performance designation might imply a slightly higher pricetag too.
If you really want to see differences, you would need to look into the Northbridge characteristics.
