changing ethernet mac address and retaining the same after reboot

hi,

i'm running mandrake 10.1 (official), kernel 2.6.8.1-12mdk, network card realtek rtl8139.

after changing my network card mac address and rebooting, the change is lost (the card reverts to its built-in mac address)

any idea how i can make the change persistent? i've looked through tons of documentation on google, faqs, howtos, etc but i didnt find this specific situation.

(on windows, the change remains persistent after a reboot)

******************************************
output from dmesg:
<...>
8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.27
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 0000:01:09.0
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0xd084ac00, xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, IRQ 11
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8100B/8139D'
<...>
*******************************************

thanks a ton,
guy24x
