cant get into gui :(


i have linux on a robots onboard pc.i started the GUI (GNOME) but it didnt show anything on a normal monitor so i used a projector and got the display (some frequency problem)..it got sorted out and i had the GUI on the projector,so i tried to change the frequency for that i have made some changes in the XConfigurator..and when i restarted ,it didnt go into GUI even on using StartX ,it gives an error...and now i dont even remember the changes i did....and im stuck in the shellprompt...can somebody plz help me...i dont have much time to sort the problem...
