Neither Xcdroast nor K3b can find a useable CD-RW device.
I've been Googled to the point that i'm thoroughly confused.
Can someone out there please step me through some process that works?
I've got a nagging feeling there was a problem with the 2.6.9 & 2.6.10 kernels in relation to this. Try running K3B as root and see if the burner device is recognised then..
Kevin, thanks for the reply.
Yes, K3b found my RW when i started the program as root.
So what does that suggest?
I was able to erase a disc, and write to it.
i see, you should try cdrecord first to see whether your cd-rw is working correctly. the way using cdrecord with kernel 2.6 posted early by me, just search forum through with the keyword of cd burning. may help.
Thanks again Kevin.
After running K3b from a terminal window, everything started to straighten itself out!!!!!!!!!
After a few days, K3b would run from the desktop icon. Then Xcdroast responded also.
Now everything works perfectly!!!!!!
Don't know how, but that did it.
How do you figure?
